Known as “El Pedregal”, this neighborhood has been a benchmark of exclusivity in the south of Mexico City since its founding in the 1950s. The name of this area has its origin in the eruption of the Xitle volcano more than two thousand years ago, when its magma traveled several kilometers and covered various areas of the city. Over time, the magma became volcanic stone that today forms part of the characteristic landscape of Pedregal.
Below we leave you the three most important reasons why we believe that living in El Pedregal is a great option:
Lifestyle
It is a residential area with a very particular atmosphere where its long avenues and boulevards merge with an organic landscape of stone, flowers and green areas that undoubtedly provides a unique experience for its inhabitants. We cannot fail to highlight its connectivity with other areas of CDMX since its proximity to the Periferico and the Poniente Supervía make the routes more agile. El Pedregal is a neighborhood where you can breathe tranquility, which makes it attractive for families and older adults. It is very common to meet neighbors in the commercial areas of the neighborhood, whether in their traditional local stores or in larger squares such as Perisur and Artz.
Architecture
Since its beginnings it has been a residential area of the highest category with a very marked influence of the great architects of that time such as Luis Barragán, Max Cetto and Mathias Goeritz. Throughout its wide streets and avenues you will find mansions from the fifties, sixties and seventies where the marked style of these architects is visible from a distance. Likewise, there are new residences with more contemporary architecture, especially in recently built horizontal condominiums.
Services and Infrastructure
It is a very complete neighborhood in the services it offers since it has high-level schools, two of the most important shopping centers in the city, quality local commerce and good restaurants such as the recent one awarded with a star Michelin, the restaurant Sud 777, Tetetlán located in what were the Casa Prieto stables, the work of Luis Barragán. We cannot leave out other classic and more casual options such as Tortas Niza or El Charco de las Ranas. As far as hospitals are concerned, the area is very well covered with one of the best hospitals in Mexico, the Hospital Ángeles del Pedregal, which in turn has a top quality hotel such as the Camino Real Pedregal.
