Best restaurants in La Condesa

The Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City has become the Mecca of good food, surpassing Polanco as the best area to find quality restaurants with innovative proposals.

There will always be controversy about which is the best restaurant or which restaurants should be on the must-see lists. There are many lists, but for us these are the best restaurants in Condesa at the moment:

Esquina Común

Address: Fernando Montes de Oca 86

Chef Ana Dolores González has created an incredible menu based on professionalism, technique and quality in its ingredients that has earned her one of the seven Michelin stars that the guide has awarded to Mexican restaurants in its most recent publication.

The most outstanding dishes are fish in its different forms of preparation with accompaniment of other dishes such as green mole or plantain tamales. You will love its covered rooftop full of vegetation for its relaxed atmosphere.

Lardo

Address: Agustín Melgar 6

From the group of establishments led by Elena Reygadas (awarded as the best female chef of 2023), Lardo is a great option to enjoy Mediterranean food where Italian cuisine predominates where Elena evokes what was achieved at the Rosetta bakery with her focaccias fresh from the wood oven.

Pizzas are certainly a great option due to the quality of their ingredients. It is ideal for brunch, meals with friends and dinners for two.

Botánico

Address: Alfonso Reyes 217

This restaurant by chef Ale Navarro alludes to its name as you will find an organic garden in which the tables are arranged to give life to an open-air restaurant with a very special vibe. Not only is the garden the protagonist, the food is on par with the place and the atmosphere.

All dishes are prepared with seasonal ingredients, from roasted chicken to a rib eye burger in brioche bread, to ravioli filled with ricotta cheese. Ideal for spending time with friends.

Contramar

Address: Durango 200

A classic in Condesa with a casual atmosphere and ideal for enjoying long after-dinner conversations with friends. The specialty is high-quality fish and seafood, where the dishes that stand out are the famous tuna tostadas, fish a la talla, tuna carnitas, and fish meatballs in morita chili sauce.

A place that has a lot of vibe and is also frequented by people from various areas of Mexico City society, such as businessmen, athletes, actors, politicians, and socialites.

Maizajo

Address: Fernando Montes de Oca 113

Our simplest recommendation, but probably also the tastiest. This place is a taco stand that specializes in making tortillas with criollo corn, which makes their dishes grow in quality and flavor. Among the most requested tacos are beef rib, black pastor, campechanos and suadero.

On the top floor there is a slightly more sophisticated restaurant where you can try other dishes made with the same corn such as shrimp tostadas, oxtail huaraches or duck barbacoa tacos.
