Ciudad de México - Cuauhtémoc
To speak of the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood is to speak of history, tradition, and vibrancy. This area is renowned for being Mexico’s financial, commercial, and political hub, to a large extent because the city’s most iconic avenue, Paseo de la Reforma runs through its streets.
This important avenue has borne witness to many significant historical events that have taken place in the country, since its construction in 1867 by emperor Maximilian of Habsburg, moving on to the years during which the country was governed by Benito Juárez, to the days of Porfirio Diaz and now representing the epicenter of a more modern and cosmopolitan Mexico.
Today, the colonia Cuauhtémoc is home to impressive skyscrapers, prominent embassies such as the US Embassy, historical monuments like the Angel de la Independencia and the Diana Cazadora, as well as many businesses and restaurants, making this area the true heart of the city and of the entire country.
What to expect…
This part of the city rightly gives meaning to the word dynamism. On the one hand, you have the city’s most important skyscrapers with offices occupied by leading banks, insurance companies, law firms, consulting agencies, and the Mexican Stock Exchange and this is considered to be the most important financial hub of the country.
And on the other hand, it is a cultural benchmark with a myriad of activities such as exhibitions, commemorative parades, and visits to historical monuments along its many streets and especially along Paseo de la Reforma.
Lifestyle
To live in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood is to experience first-hand the breathtaking pace of the area on busy weekdays combined with afternoon strolls along its tree-lined streets and visits to its signature high-end and traditional restaurants.
It is important to point out this neighborhood’s proximity to other emblematic areas of the city such as Condesa, Roma, Juárez or Polanco, which is certainly an advantage for those who like to enjoy different cultural, culinary, and entertainment options on a regular basis.
Among the many residents of colonia Cuauhtémoc, you will find executives and businessmen who work in the area, young couples, singles, and foreigners looking for short-term stays to soak in the city.
It’s not the right place to…
Families who seek a quiet residential area. Being part of the city’s financial and cultural center, it is difficult to find that peaceful environment that is typically felt in residential locations due to the large array of activities that constantly take place in this area, especially from Mondays to Fridays.
Residential market
The residential market is made up mostly of loft-type apartments. This housing format has gained popularity in this neighborhood, offering high-quality finishings and giving the market in this area a fresh new look. Furthermore, it is not uncommon to find newly renovated apartments in buildings that were built in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
You will fall in love with…
The “International Día de Muertos Parade”. Inspired by the first scenes of the “Spectre” movie of the James Bond series, this traditional parade that commemorates the day of the dead has taken place along Paseo de la Reforma since 2016. It is a very special day that people can share with their family to celebrate life and remember those loved ones that are no longer here.
