Ciudad de México - Del Carmen Coyoacán
The Del Carmen neighborhood is located in the southern part of Mexico City and is an area with a unique style and strong character due to its distinguished lineage and historical background, as well as its cultural and mystique tradition that has transcended over time.
This area was founded in 1890 by the then President Porfirio Díaz in what was the Hacienda de San Pedro Mártir, naming it after his wife, Doña Carmen Romero Rubio. Over the years, it has been the home of prominent personalities and artists, such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Dolores del Río, Emilio “EL Indio” Fernández, León Trotsky, Salvador Novo and Manuel Toussaint.
Today, the Del Carmen neighborhood houses important museums, such as Casa Frida Kahlo or León Trotsky, you can also find one of the most iconic parks in CDMX, “Los viveros de Coyoacán” which coupled with its cobbled streets and large antique houses, make this area an oasis in the middle of the hectic capital city.

The colonia Del Carmen is, by nature, a residential area with a very particular essence where everyday life is intertwined with a heritage of landed estates and the artistic and intellectual roots of the prolific residents of yesteryear, making this area a neighborhood where life moves at a very special pace.
Lifestyle
To live in colonia Del Carmen is like going back to the beginning of the XX Century, where its vintage homes and urban woodlands that overflow with jacaranda and bougainvillea flowers illustrate a small-town and quiet environment, making this area a very pleasant place to live.
A noteworthy feature about this area is its accessibility to other neighborhoods in the southern part of the city, such as la Florida, Guadalupe Inn, San Ángel or Pedregal, which can be easily reached from Avenida Universidad and Rio Churubusco, two main boulevards in this part of the city. Such accessibility magnifies the number of services readily available in the Del Carmen neighborhood today in terms of top-notch schools, supermarkets, and shopping centers.
