Ciudad de México - Narvarte
The Narvarte neighborhood is located in the Benito Juárez borough in the central part of Mexico City. Actually, the area known as “Narvarte” is made up of several neighborhoods: Piedad Narvarte, Atenor Salas, Narvarte Poniente, Narvarte Oriente and Vértiz Narvarte. Also known as “La Narvarte”, it dates back to the 1940’s and was designed as a residential neighborhood with a very particular layout where the traditional street blocks are met by large diagonal avenues that are found on two of its popular roundabouts: the Etiopia Glorieta and the Glorieta SCOP.
Today, the area is referred to as “the New Condesa” because of the real-estate boom that has sprung up in recent years derived from its location (probably one of the better-connected areas in Mexico City), price affordability in comparison to other areas nearby, and the “barrio” life-style that is so difficult to find nowadays in the Mexican capital.
What to expect…
The Narvarte has evolved a lot in recent years and has become one of Mexico City’s favorite places. It has been named one of the best neighborhoods in the world by some journals and this is not surprising, as it combines local businesses with a wide variety of culinary options and the community spirit of its residents.
