Ciudad de México - Pedregal
It is commonly known as “Pedregal”, this neighborhood has been synonymous with the concept of exclusivity in the southern part of Mexico City since it was first developed in the 1950’s.
The name of this area traces its origins back to the eruption of the Xitle volcano more than two thousand years ago, when its magma swept through several kilometers and covered various parts of the city. With time, the weight of the magma transformed into volcanic stone which today forms part of Pedregal’s distinguishing landscape.
Since it was first developed, Pedregal has been a high-end residential area with a strong influence by the leading architects of that time such as Luis Barragán, Max Cetto and Mathias Goeritz.

Pedregal is a neighborhood where you breathe serenity, which makes it attractive for families and older adults. It is fairly common to run into neighbors at different commercial areas nearby, either at the traditional local shops or at larger shopping malls such as Perisur and Artz Pedregal.
It is an all-encompassing area in terms of services offered, which include top-tier schools, two of the most important shopping centers of the city, high-quality local businesses and good restaurants.
It’s not the right place to…
Walk. It is a large neighborhood with irregular topography. A car is a must to move about within the area.
Residential market
The residential market is centered on large homes built on extensive plots with a style now mostly dominated by modern architecture, a transformation from what it used to be when the area was first developed. In more recent years we have seen the rise of horizontal condominiums with homes that, although smaller, are still of considerable size.
